Our Story

Nabors Creek Estate Vineyard began not with a plan to make wine, but with a love for the land. After raising their family, Billy and Shelia Busch found themselves drawn back to their rural roots, restoring ranches and rediscovering the beauty, purpose, and peace that country life offers. Their hope was to create a place where future generations, friends, and visitors could experience that same connection.

That vision took an unexpected turn when a simple conversation introduced the possibility of planting wine grapes. What seemed like a far-fetched idea quickly became a calling. Guided by faith, trusted mentors, and a belief that each step was unfolding exactly as it should, they entered the world of viticulture—a journey they often describe as simply “following the breadcrumbs.”

Beginning in 2016, the property was transformed into what is now Nabors Creek Estate Vineyard. After extensive site evaluation, the estate was planted with eight carefully selected grape varieties across 23 acres and nearly 18,000 vines. Every row, fence, irrigation line, and harvest reflects years of hard work and the dedication of family, friends, and an extraordinary team that helped bring the vision to life.

Today, Nabors Creek Estate Vineyard proudly calls Goldthwaite home. As Mills County’s first commercial-scale vineyard, the estate is dedicated to exceptional farming, estate-grown wines, authentic hospitality, and creating meaningful experiences that bring people together. The vines continue to remind us that growth comes through every season—and with every new vintage, another chapter of the story begins.
